
How I healed my nervous system for lasting results
Finding out it's your nervous system is one thing - but getting the right help is another story.
Finding out that my nervous system was the root cause of my symptoms was a revelation.
But trying to find the right help was incredibly difficult.
For years, my health had been impacted in ways I couldn’t explain. Chronic pain. Chronic fatigue. Noise sensitivity. Brain fog. Ulcers. Tonsillitis. Random tingling. This went on for over 20 years, and I was completely in the dark about what was actually wrong with me.
So I did what most people do - I searched.
I scoured the internet, and the more I searched, the more “solutions” appeared in my Instagram and Facebook feeds. Nervous system regulation. Somatics. Brain retraining. Healing programmes everywhere.
At the time, I didn’t have a clue what I was really looking for. It was almost impossible to tell what was trustworthy and what was just shiny marketing.
I sensed that my nervous system needed regulating, but no one clearly explained how that actually happens. When I finally realised my nervous system was at the root of everything, I was desperate to fix it - but I didn’t know where to start.
After intense research, I chose a nervous system regulation programme. The marketing said the right things. But once inside, there was very little substance. Some basic vagus nerve content, inner child work, and live somatic classes - and it was expensive.
The somatic exercises themselves were good (and later I trained in them through the Institute of Applied Somatics), but I left feeling empty. The practitioner couldn’t answer my questions and had very limited understanding of what she was teaching. I found myself educating her.
So I kept going.
I discovered that my brain had become confused - constantly overreacting to normal events, stuck in a state of alert. That led me into brain retraining and neuroplasticity which I also studied. Helpful, but still incomplete.
Then I learned about safety in the nervous system. More courses. Still something missing.
Eventually, I began to understand about trapped and repressed emotions, and how somatic healing allows emotions to be processed through the body - not just talked about. (This is where traditional therapy often has limitations, because it keeps you stuck in your head.)
I trained in somatic healing through the Focalizing Institute.
Then I discovered how certain personality types are predisposed to burnout and chronic illness.
That part floored me.
I realised I’d been set up for these health issues since early childhood.
That led me to Internal Family Systems (parts work), which I now use with my clients - not to fight patterns, but to understand and work with them. I also became deeply aware of how environment - people, relationships, living conditions, scents, chemicals - impacts health.
As you can see, it was a long, meandering, expensive, confusing journey.
And many of the people I work with now have been on a similar path - collecting pieces of the puzzle but still not recovering.
That’s why I designed my programme to include everything I wish I’d had:
Nervous system regulation (breathwork, mindfulness, somatic work)
Brain retraining (cognitive rewiring, breathwork)
Emotional processing (somatic healing and journalling)
Behaviour, pattern and parts work
Integration
It’s a full-spectrum approach for symptoms like migraines, headaches, pain, fatigue, anxiety, hypervigilance, digestive and skin issues, and sensitivities to noise, food, or scent that cannot be explained by any other tests.
I left my senior corporate role so I could support high achievers, perfectionists, over thinkers, people pleasers, and driven individuals to heal, without endlessly searching.
The protocol I now share changed my life.
I went from waking exhausted, wired, fearful, and hyper-sensitive… to waking calm, refreshed, grounded, and ready for the day.
