An embodied approach with 1:1 somatic healing

Meeting you where you are

You have probably arrived here in need of some deep healing. This could be presenting in different ways; in physical symptoms such as fatigue, pain or headaches, but you may also be showing up as anxious, disassociated or have lost your zest for life. You may be feeling lost or at your wits end having tried so many things already.

These somatic healing sessions are not about teaching you techniques to heal yourself, these sessions are about taking a curious and embodied approach to meet you at where you are at right now.

If you have been experiencing symptoms for a while there is possibly some deep-rooted conditioning at play with some level of trauma at the heart. And when I say trauma, I mean anything that has been too much for your nervous system to be able to handle at the time. It doesn't mean anything notable needs to have happened to you, it could be as a result of a lack of emotional connection when you were younger that has made you less able to handle stressful events in your life.

These sessions are not about avoiding or tip toeing around what has happened, or not happened to you, they are also not about asking you to replay hidden or hurtful memories and retriggering you. They are about asking your body what it is feeling and sensing. It is recognising what emotions are making you feel stuck. It is taking an embodied approach to really start to feel what is being held in your body.

What to expect

Somatic healing is not a quick fix, there are many layers to healing. If you are very stuck, it can take a couple of sessions to develop a level of trust. This could be your trust in me, but also your trust in yourself. Learning to trust yourself and what your body is telling you in the first step in healing.

We will take some time to connect in with your body and in with your environment, learning to understand what it feels like to be you. Maybe over time you have lost a sense of yourself.

I work from a trauma-informed perspective, nothing will be forced. Everything will be taken at your pace, and meeting you where you are.

Sessions involve talking and some gentle explorations in posture, movement and breath. You will be invited to notice and track sensations in your body. These sessions don't involve somatic exercises, which although have their place and can release trapped emotions and tension, their benefits can be short lived if the deeper layers are not addressed.

I have been where you are

For years, I struggled with numerous chronic symptoms and tried everything to get better. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia

back in 2008 which then evolved into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and then Long Covid , so it was a lot! Recovery was slow and whilst I experienced some improvements, I kept hitting a recovery plateau.

Then, I had my lightbulb moment, I discovered that all my symptoms were connected to my autonomic nervous system. This realisation marked the beginning of my true recovery journey.
